Hallgrímur Helgason, born in Reykjavík in 1959, is an Icelandic writer. After studying at the Icelandic College of Art and Crafts in Reykjavík, he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich for one year. He achieved his literary breakthrough in 1996 with the novel „101 Reykjavík“, which was later adapted into a film. His other notable works include „Ten Tips to End the World“ (2008) and „The Woman at 1,000 Degrees“ (2011).
