Halldor Laxness

Halldór Laxness (1902–1998) was an Icelandic writer. Born in Reykjavík, he published around 60 books, including novels, short stories, plays, poetry, essays, and memoirs. His best-known works include Independent People, The Atom Station, and Under the Glacier. His books have been translated into more than 40 languages. In 1955, Laxness was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.
