Gustav Seibt

Gustav Seibt (born 1959) is an essayist, historian, literary critic, and journalist. His professional career included work for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the Berliner Zeitung, Die Zeit, and the Süddeutsche Zeitung. His books include “Anonimo Romano. Geschichtsschreibung in Rom an der Schwelle zur Renaissance” (1992), “Rom oder Tod” (2001), “Goethe und Napoleon. Eine historische Begegnung” (2008), and “Mit einer Art von Wut. Goethe in der Revolution” (2014). Seibt has received, among other honors, the Sigmund Freud Prize for Scholarly Prose, the Hans Reimer Prize of the Warburg Foundation, and the Hildegard von Bingen Prize for Journalism.
