Gunna Wendt (born 1953 in Jeinsen near Hanover) studied sociology and psychology in Hanover. From 1981, she worked as a freelance writer, journalist and curator in Munich, including on projects for theater and radio. She published short stories, poetry, essays and numerous biographies, including works on Liesl Karlstadt, Helmut Qualtinger, Maria Callas, Paula Modersohn-Becker, Franziska zu Reventlow, Clara Rilke-Westhoff, Lena Christ, Erika Mann and Therese Giehse. Her master's thesis focused on Paula Modersohn-Becker. In 2017, she received the Schwabinger Kunstpreis.
