Guido Westerwelle

Guido Westerwelle (1961–2016) was a German politician who served as Federal Foreign Minister from 2009 to 2013. After leaving office, he founded the Westerwelle Foundation, which aimed to support democracy, market economies, and small and medium-sized enterprises in societies undergoing political and economic change. Together with journalist Dominik Wichmann, he published the book *Zwischen zwei Leben*, based on diary entries and conversations. Westerwelle died in Cologne on March 18, 2016, as a result of leukemia.
