Greg Woolf

Greg Woolf (born 1961) is a historian of antiquity. In 2021 he took up the Ronald J. Mellor Professorship of Ancient History at the University of California, Los Angeles. Previously, he was Professor of Classics and director of the Institute of Classical Studies at the University of London (2015–2021). From 1998, he was Professor of Ancient History at the University of St Andrews. His publications include *Rome: An Empire’s Story* (2015).
