Greg Iles was born in Stuttgart in 1960 and moved with his family to Natchez, Mississippi, at the age of four. Before becoming a writer, he spent several years touring the United States as a singer and guitarist with the band Frankly Scarlet. He published his first novel in 1992. His notable works include the thrillers Natchez Burning, The Death Factory, The Devil’s Punchbowl, and 24 Hours. Iles wrote the screenplay for the film adaptation of 24 Hours himself.
