Godela Weiss-Sussex, born in 1962, is a scholar of German studies. After studying for a teaching qualification and working at Freie Universität Berlin, she taught at De Montfort University in Leicester from 1991, first as a Lecturer and later as a Senior Lecturer. She received a PhD in German studies from the University of London. From 2004, she worked at the Institute of Modern Languages Research, School of Advanced Study, University of London, ultimately as a Reader; from 2009, she was also a Fellow and College Lecturer at King’s College Cambridge. Her research has focused on German-Jewish literature and culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, women’s writing, translingualism in literature, and metropolitan literature.
