Born in 1965, Gina Mayer studied graphic design in Trier and Düsseldorf and initially worked as an advertising copywriter before becoming a writer. Since 2006, she has published numerous novels for children, young adults and adults. Her best-known works include the series The Shadow Gang (co-written with Frank Maria Reifenberg) and The Magical Flower Shop. Her books have been translated into many languages and appeared on the Spiegel bestseller list. Mayer has been nominated for, among others, the Franco-German Young Readers’ Literature Prize and the Hansjörg Martin Award; she has also received the Leipziger Lesekompass and the Zurich Children’s Book Award.
