Gilles Kepel

Gilles Kepel, born in Paris on 30 June 1955, is a French sociologist. He studied sociology, English studies and Arabic, and was a professor at the Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris. Known for his work on the Arab world, political Islam and radical Islamism, he has written numerous books, including *Terror in Frankreich. Der neue Dschihad in Europa*, *Der Bruch. Frankreichs gespaltene Gesellschaft* and *Chaos. Die Krisen in Nordafrika und im Nahen Osten verstehen*.
