Gerhard Altmann

Gerhard Altmann (born 1966 in Vienna) studied German and communication studies and wrote his thesis on the poet Hertha Kräftner. From 1991 to 1999, he worked as a journalist for outlets including Der Standard, Kurier and ORF, and served as co-editor-in-chief of the magazine Buchkultur. He subsequently worked in press and public relations for the International Haydn Festival in Eisenstadt and for BEWAG and its successor companies. Altmann published poetry, prose, plays and dialect poems in anthologies, periodicals and individual books. His works include sim sala mander (1996), kuba & co. (2000), hianungraud (2001), hertha kräftner. leben und werk (2007), mit mir umarmt dich das meer (2019) and Nord – Mitte – Süd. Notizen. Mein Burgenland (2023). He also co-edited the Kräftner volume Kühle Sterne (1997) and released music, including the CD König der Plastikviecher (2020).
