Gerd Gigerenzer is a psychologist. He served as a director at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin and headed the Harding Center for Risk Literacy. His work received numerous awards, including the Communicator Prize and the German Psychology Prize. He is also known for popular science books such as *Calculated Risks: How to Know When Numbers Deceive You* (German original: »Das Einmaleins der Skepsis«, 2002), *Gut Feelings* (»Bauchentscheidungen«, 2007), and *Risk Savvy* (»Risiko. Wie man die richtigen Entscheidungen trifft«, 2013), which became bestsellers.
