Gerard Donovan

Gerard Donovan, born in 1959 in Wexford, Ireland, is an Irish writer. He studied philosophy, German studies and classical guitar. His work includes poetry collections, short stories and novels. His debut novel, *Ein bitterkalter Nachmittag*, received the Kerry Group Irish Fiction Award and was longlisted for the 2003 Man Booker Prize. His novel *Winter in Maine* became an international bestseller.
