Georges Bensoussan

Georges Bensoussan was born in 1952 into a long-established Jewish family in Morocco and moved to France with his family. He is a historian whose work focuses particularly on the cultural history of Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries and on the cultural history of the Jewish world. His professional activities included serving as editor-in-chief of the French journal Revue d’Histoire de la Shoah and overseeing publications of the Mémorial de la Shoah in Paris. These included a publication on the archive created and hidden in the Warsaw Ghetto by Emanuel Ringelblum and others. In 2008, Bensoussan received the Prix Mémoire de la Shoah from the Fondation Jacob Buchmann.
