Geoffrey Household

Geoffrey Household (1900–1988) was an English writer. After studying at Oxford, he initially worked as a banker in Romania. He later travelled to Spain to sell bananas and also spent time in the United States, Europe and South America. His first novel, *The Third Hour*, was published in 1937, followed by the short-story collection *The Salvation of Pisco Gabar* in 1938. He became best known for the novel *Rogue Male* (1939). During the Second World War, Household was sent to Romania as an intelligence officer. After 1945, he resumed his writing career.
