Gabriele Hasmann, born in Vienna in 1968, is an Austrian author, journalist and ghostwriter. She studied German and philosophy and worked, among other roles, as a columnist, local and cultural editor, and radio and television producer. Since 2010 or 2011, she has worked as a freelance writer, editor and author manager. Hasmann writes about historical figures, historical events, true crime and mysterious phenomena. She received the Bad Wildbad Children’s and Young Adult Literature Prize in 1993 and the Mödling Prize for Short Prose in 1995. Her publications include The Wild Wanda and Other Dangerous Women, The Haunted Habsburgs and Sinful Vienna. She began writing her first stories at the age of eight.
