Friedrich A. von Hayek (1899–1992) studied law and political science in Vienna from 1918 to 1923, earning a doctorate in law in 1921 and a doctorate in political science in 1923. In 1929 he became a Privatdozent at the University of Vienna. From 1931 to 1950, he was Tooke Professor of Economic Science and Statistics at the London School of Economics. He subsequently served as Professor of Social and Moral Science at the University of Chicago from 1950 to 1962 and as Professor of Economics at the University of Freiburg from 1962 to 1968.
