Friedl Hofbauer

Friedl Hofbauer (1924–2014) was born in Vienna and studied German literature at the University of Vienna. She worked as a freelance writer and wrote for both children and adults. Her work received, among other honors, the Austrian State Prize for Children’s Poetry, the Children’s Book Prize of the City of Vienna on several occasions, and the Austrian Decoration of Honour for Science and Art. She was also awarded the title of professor.
