Fredric Jameson (born 1934) was an American literary scholar and a prominent representative of Marxist cultural theory. He taught at, among other institutions, Harvard University, Yale University, and the University of California, Berkeley. At Duke University in Durham, he was a professor of comparative literature and Romance studies and director of the Center for Critical Theory. Among his best-known works is “Postmodernism or the Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism,” which received the MLA Lowell Prize.
