Frederick Taylor studied modern history and German studies and became a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. He researched German history during several extended study stays in both German states, beginning in the 1970s. He gained international recognition with »Dresden: Tuesday, 13 February 1945« (2004), his account of the bombing of Dresden. His book »The Berlin Wall: 13 August 1961 to 9 November 1989« (2009) was also translated into several languages and became an international bestseller. His other works include »Between War and Peace« (2011), »Inflation« (2013), and »Coventry« (2015).
