Franziska Thun-Hohenstein

Franziska Thun-Hohenstein (born 1951) studied Russian language and literature in Moscow. She worked at the Leibniz Center for Contemporary Literature and Cultural Research in Berlin and focused on the literary and cultural history of Russia in the 19th and 20th centuries, literary writing after the Gulag, and the cultural semantics of the Black Sea region. Her major editorial work includes the edition of the collected works of Varlam Shalamov, published by Matthes & Seitz Berlin.
