Franziska Bauer

Franziska Bauer was born in Güssing in 1951 and studied Russian and English at the University of Vienna. She worked as a secondary-school teacher at BG/BRG/BORG Eisenstadt Kurzwiese and was also a textbook author. Bauer published poetry, essays, and short stories in journals and anthologies. Her publications include the literacy primer “Sag, wie geht das Alphabet?” and the bilingual German-Russian poetry collection “Auf des Windes Schwingen,” co-written with Mary Nikolska. She received the Theodor Kery Foundation’s advancement award in 2016, won first prize in the 2019 essay competition of the Werkkreis Literatur der Arbeitswelt, and received the Bad Godesberg Literature Prize in 2020.
