Franz Smola, born in Passau in 1963, is an art historian with a doctorate in law. He also holds the academic degrees Mag. phil. and MA. Until summer 2017, he worked as a curator at the Leopold Museum in Vienna; in autumn 2017, he moved to the Belvedere in Vienna as a curator.
