Franz Schuh

Franz Schuh (born 1947 in Vienna) is an Austrian philosopher, writer, essayist, and literary critic. He studied philosophy, history, and German studies, earning a doctorate in 1975 with a dissertation on “Hegel and the Logic of Praxis.” Schuh taught at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and worked as a columnist and freelance contributor for periodicals and radio broadcasters. His books include Sämtliche Leidenschaften (2014), Fortuna. Aus dem Magazin des Glücks (2017), Lachen und Sterben (2021), and Ein Mann ohne Beschwerden (2023). He received, among other distinctions, the Leipzig Book Fair Prize (2006), the Austrian Art Prize (2011), and the Johann Heinrich Merck Prize for Literary Criticism and Essay (2021).
