Frank Trommler

Frank Trommler was Professor of German and Comparative Literature at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia from 1970 to 2007. He also held visiting professorships at Princeton University and Johns Hopkins University. From 1991 to 1992, he served as president of the German Studies Association, and from 1995 to 2003 he directed the Humanities Program at the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies in Washington. In 2004, he received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his contributions to cultural exchange between Germany and the United States.
