Frank Schirrmacher

Frank Schirrmacher (1959–2014) was a German journalist, publicist and author. He studied in Heidelberg and Cambridge and earned a doctorate. From 1994 until his death, he was one of the co-editors of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Through books including Das Methusalem-Komplott, Minimum, Payback and Ego, he helped shape public debates on major social issues. Das Methusalem-Komplott received, among other honors, the Corine Nonfiction Prize and the Journalist of the Year award. In 2007, he became the first journalist to receive the Jacob Grimm Prize for the German Language; in 2009, he was awarded the Ludwig Börne Prize.
