Frances Burney

Frances Burney (1752–1840) was an English writer and a courtier to Queen Charlotte. She became known for the novels *Evelina* (1778), *Cecilia* (1782), *Camilla* (1785), and *The Wanderer* (1814). She is regarded as a pioneer of the novel of manners. Burney also wrote plays and kept an extensive diary.
