Ferdinand Schmatz writes poetry, prose, essays and radio plays. From 2012 to 2020, he was a professor and head of the Institute for Language Art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. He edited the works and estate of the Austrian writer Reinhard Priessnitz. His awards include the H. C. Artmann Prize (2006), the Ernst Jandl Prize (2009) and the Christine Lavant Prize. His publications include the poetry collection “STRAND DER VERSE LAUF” (2022) and “Die Kamera” (2022), created in collaboration with Elfie Semotan.
