Felix Salten (1869–1945), born Siegmund or Zsiga Salzmann in Pest, was an Austrian writer, journalist, translator, and dramatist. After moving to Vienna, he worked as a journalist and editor in Vienna and Berlin, while also writing novels, novellas, plays, and screenplays. He became best known for the animal story *Bambi: A Life in the Woods*, which was later adapted into a film by Walt Disney. In the late 1930s, Salten fled to Switzerland, where he died in Zurich in 1945.
