Favell Lee Mortimer

Favell Lee Mortimer (1802–1878) was a British author of children’s books. Her successful 19th-century works were often characterized as strict and puritanical and became bestsellers. She later wrote travel literature, although she never personally visited any of the countries she described; her knowledge of them came from reference works.
