Eva Menasse, born in Vienna in 1970, began her career as a journalist and made her literary debut in 2005 with the family novel *Vienna*. She subsequently published novels and short-story collections, including *Lässliche Todsünden*, *Quasikristalle*, *Tiere für Fortgeschrittene* and *Dunkelblum* (2021), many of which have been translated and received awards. She has also established herself as an essayist, receiving the Ludwig Börne Prize in 2019. Her other distinctions include the Heinrich Böll Prize, the Friedrich Hölderlin Prize, the Austrian Book Prize, the Jonathan Swift Prize and the Bruno Kreisky Prize for the Political Book. Her work has been translated into numerous languages.
