Eva Maaser

Eva Maaser (born 1948) studied German and art history, as well as theology, in Münster. She began working as a freelance writer in 1999. Her work includes historical novels, crime fiction, and books for children and young adults, including the Rohleff crime series featuring a commissioner from Steinfurt. Her distinctions include a scholarship from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (2001), a travel grant from the Association of German Writers (2003), and the Cultural Prize of the Steinfurt district (2006). From 2009 to 2016, she chaired the VS-NRW writers’ association and served on the WDR Broadcasting Council. Maaser was also described as an enthusiastic gardener.
