Eudora Welty

Eudora Welty (1909–2001) was an American writer and photographer. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, she became a major voice in the literature of the American South. She published her first short-story collection, “A Curtain of Green,” in 1941. Her best-known works include the novels “Delta Wedding,” “The Ponder Heart,” and “The Optimist’s Daughter,” which received the Pulitzer Prize in 1973. Alongside her literary work, Welty was also an accomplished photographer and published several books of photography.
