Erwin Einzinger

Erwin Einzinger, born in 1953 in Kirchdorf, Upper Austria, is an Austrian writer and translator. He studied English and German literature in Salzburg and worked for many years as a secondary-school teacher at the BRG Kirchdorf. From 1977 onward, he published poetry, prose collections, and novels, including “Von Dschalalabad nach Bad Schallerbach,” “Die virtuelle Forelle,” “Barfuß ins Kino,” and “Ein kirgisischer Western.” He also translated poetry and novels by U.S. authors such as John Ashbery, Robert Creeley, Ed Sanders, and James Schuyler into German. His honors include the manuskripte Prize of Styria (1994), the Cultural Prize of Upper Austria (2002), and the H. C. Artmann Prize (2010).
