Erwin Einzinger, born in 1953 in Kirchdorf an der Krems, Upper Austria, is a writer and translator. He studied English and German at the University of Salzburg and worked for many years as a secondary-school teacher at the BRG Kirchdorf. Since 1977, he has published poetry, prose collections and novels, including “Von Dschalalabad nach Bad Schallerbach,” “Die virtuelle Forelle,” “Barfuß ins Kino” and “Ein kirgisischer Western.” He has also translated more than ten volumes of poetry and fiction by U.S. authors. His awards include the manuskripte Prize of the Province of Styria (1994), the Culture Prize of the Province of Upper Austria (2002) and the H. C. Artmann Prize (2010).
