Ernst Strouhal (born 1957) is an author and essayist. He was a professor at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and contributed to exhibitions including “Ein Lied der Vernunft” (Jewish Museum Vienna, 1996) and “Spiele der Stadt” (Vienna Museum, 2011). In 2010 he received the Austrian State Prize for Cultural Journalism. His books include “Die Welt im Spiel. Atlas der spielbaren Landkarten” (2015), “Böse Briefe. Zur Geschichte des Drohens und Erpressens” (2017, with Christoph Winder), “Gespräch mit einem Esel. Vom Lesen mit dem Daumen” (2019), and “Vier Schwestern. Fernes Wien, fremde Welt” (2022).
