Erich Hackl

Erich Hackl was born in Steyr, Austria, in 1954. He studied German and Hispanic studies and worked as a teacher and lecturer, including for three years at the Complutense University of Madrid. His career also included work as a writer, journalist, and literary translator from Spanish. His notable works include “Auroras Anlaß” (1987), “Abschied von Sidonie” (1989), and “Am Seil. Eine Heldengeschichte” (2018). Many of his narratives are based on authentic cases and have been translated into numerous languages; “Auroras Anlaß” and “Abschied von Sidonie” are used as school texts. In 2017, he received the Human Rights Prize of the Province of Upper Austria.
