Eric H. Cline (born 1960) is an archaeologist and classicist. He was a professor of classical studies and anthropology and director of the Archaeological Institute at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. His scholarly work has focused on the archaeology of the Levant, biblical archaeology, military history, and international relations in the Bronze Age. Cline has participated in more than 30 excavations in Greece, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, and the United States. His book “1177 B.C.” received the American School of Oriental Research’s first prize for the best popular book.
