Enid Blyton (1897–1968) was a British children’s author. She was born in East Dulwich, South London, and began writing poetry at the age of 14. She initially worked as a kindergarten teacher before devoting herself to writing from 1924 onward. Blyton published several hundred children’s books, as well as numerous short stories, poems and plays. Her best-known series include The Famous Five, The Secret Seven and the mystery stories. Her works were translated into many languages, making her one of the most widely read children’s authors in the world.
