Engelbert Gottschalk was born in Moers in 1963 and worked as an urban planner before becoming a writer. He studied geography, economics and statistical methods at the universities of Trier and Frankfurt am Main. From 2017 onward, he increasingly devoted himself to writing. His stories combine a realistic everyday world with surreal and fantastic elements. His publications include the stories “Die Friedhofswärterin” and “Liebe 2.0,” which appeared in anthologies, as well as the short story “Angst².” He also published the fantasy novella “Der Apfel des Todes” and contributed to the anthology “Zartbitter – Geschichten von Nachtschwärmern, Traumtänzern und Pechvögeln.” His travels included journeys to the Indian subcontinent, Tibet and Southeast Asia.
