Emma Knight studied journalism and international development and worked as a journalist, author, and entrepreneur. Her writing appeared in publications including Literary Hub, Vogue, The Globe and Mail, and The New York Times. In 2014, she co-founded the organic beverage company Greenhouse, where she served as head of brand. She was also the creator and co-host of the cultural podcast Fanfare. Knight published the bestselling cookbooks The Greenhouse Cookbook (2017) and How to Eat with One Hand (2021). Her first novel, »Der Lebenszyklus des Gemeinen Oktopus«, was nominated for the Giller Prize.
