Emilie Autumn is an American musician, singer, and author. She began training as a violinist and composer at the age of four. Her first album was released in 1997. Her music combines classical elements with modern and electronic influences. In late 2009, she published the partly fictional, partly autobiographical novel *The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls* (German: *Die Anstalt für ungehorsame viktorianische Mädchen*), which also draws on her experiences with bipolar disorder.
