Emil Zopfi

Emil Zopfi (born 1943) studied electrical engineering and worked in industry as a development engineer, computer specialist and computer engineer. His first novel, »Jede Minute kostet 33 Franken«, was published in 1977. He subsequently published numerous novels, crime novels, nonfiction and mountaineering books, radio plays, and books for children and young adults, as well as reportage, short stories and columns. His works include »Die Fabrikglocke«, »Kilchenstock«, »Tödi« and »Glärnisch«. Zopfi received several awards, including the Cultural Prize of the Canton of Glarus, the Swiss Youth Book Prize, awards from the Swiss Schiller Foundation and the King Albert I Mountain Award. Alongside writing, mountaineering and sport climbing are recurring passions in his biography.
