Ellis Kaut

Ellis Kaut (1920–2015) was a German author and sculptor. Born in Stuttgart, she grew up in Munich from 1922 and initially studied acting before turning to sculpture. In the early 1960s, she created the stories about the mischievous goblin Pumuckl. First broadcast as radio plays by Bavarian Radio, the stories also became successful as books, records, and a television series. Kaut received the Bavarian Radio Play Award in 1955 and was later awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class.
