Ellert Nijenhuis

Ellert R. S. Nijenhuis is a psychologist, clinical psychologist, psychotherapist, and researcher. For more than three decades, he worked in the diagnosis and treatment of severely traumatized patients. His academic work focused on trauma-related dissociation and dissociative disorders, subjects on which he taught and published. He collaborated with psychiatric clinics in the Netherlands and Switzerland and with several European universities. The International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation gave him several awards, including a lifetime achievement award.
