Elizabeth Kolbert (born 1961) is an American journalist and author. She studied literature at Yale University and received a Fulbright Scholarship for a period in Hamburg, Germany. After writing for publications including The New York Times, she joined The New Yorker as a staff writer in 1999. In 2006, she received a National Magazine Award in the Public Interest category for her series “The Climate of Man.” In 2015, she won the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction for her book “The Sixth Extinction.” She also edited “The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2009.”
