Eleni Tsakmaki

Eleni Tsakmaki was born in 1938 in Zagliveri near Thessaloniki and came to southern Germany in 1961 as part of the recruitment agreement. She published plays, stories, and biographical accounts of emigration. Tsakmaki was featured as a protagonist in the documentary films *Daughters of Departure* (2012) and *Where Dreams Wait* (2023). Her honors include the honorary award of the Association of Greek Writers and a prize in the City of Munich’s “Fremde Heimat” competition.
