Edward O. Wilson

Edward O. Wilson (born 1929) was a biologist and scientist whose research and teaching focused on the environment, animal behavior, evolution, and biodiversity. His honors included the U.S. National Medal of Science and the Crafoord Prize of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. He received two Pulitzer Prizes for his publications: for “Biologie als Schicksal. Die soziobiologischen Grundlagen menschlichen Verhaltens” (1978; German edition 1980) and, jointly with Bert Hölldobler, for “Die Ameisen” (1990; German edition 1995).
