Edgar Wolfrum

Edgar Wolfrum (born 1960) is a German historian. He studied history, political science, German studies and Spanish, received his doctorate in 1990 and completed his habilitation in 1999. From 1991 to 1994, he headed the history funding division at the Volkswagen Foundation. In 2003, he took over the Chair of Contemporary History at Heidelberg University. From 2017 to 2022, he established and served as the academic director of Heidelberg’s Research Center on Antiziganism. His research focuses on German and European history after 1945, the overcoming of dictatorships, coming to terms with the past and cultures of remembrance. His publications include »Welt im Zwiespalt. Eine andere Geschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts« (2017) and »Der Aufsteiger. Eine Geschichte Deutschlands von 1990 bis heute« (2020).
