Edgar Feuchtwanger was born in Munich in 1924 and emigrated to England with his family in 1939, at the age of 14. He studied history at the University of Cambridge and subsequently taught at several universities in England and Germany, including in Frankfurt am Main. His research and publications focused on the history of the Victorian era and modern German history. In 2002, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for his contributions to German-British relations.
