Edda Ziegler

Edda Ziegler, Dr. phil., is a nonfiction author and publicist. She taught modern German literature and book studies at the University of Munich and led the MANUSKRIPTUM project, a creative-writing program, there until 2006. Her research and publications focus on the history of books and publishing, censorship, and women writers in Munich. She has also written biographies of Heinrich Heine and Theodor Fontane. Her notable works include “Verboten – verfemt – vertrieben. Schriftstellerinnen im Widerstand gegen den Nationalsozialismus” (2010), on women writers’ resistance to National Socialism, and “Buchfrauen. Frauen in der Geschichte des deutschen Buchhandels” (2014), on women in the history of the German book trade.
